Choices: A Core Collection for Young Reluctant Readers (ISSN 0735-6358) (1983--Present)
Choices is a children's book selection tool which assists in matching the right book with the right child to foster and encourage reading by children. It is compiled by a number of prominent children's librarians and provides information about books held within children's book collections as well as materials recently published. All titles carry lengthy and complete annotations and are indexed by interest level, reading level, and appropriate subjects. The annotations are intended to provide a complete description of the books. Subject indexing is augmented by special groupings under Everyday Stories, Best Sellers, and Read Aloud. A special listing under Group 2 has been compiled to provide recommended reading for young people who read at or above their grade level, but find little satisfaction in the books they read.
